I have refused to talk politics on this blog. Now that it’s all over, I have a few comments. I am really tired of all the shouty comments on social media. I have no problem with people expressing an opinion but some of it was down right rude. I think we miss out on some very good talented people running for office because of the personal remarks that they and their families are subjected too. We turn the politicians that we don’t agree with into the devil incarnate. I’m tired of the lies and half-truths and the promises that can’t possibly be followed through on. We have a system of checks and balances. A candidate can promise the sun the moon and the stars but may only be able to deliver a few sunny days and an occasional full moon. It takes cooperation between all the branches of government to actually accomplish anything significant. I’ve watched some politicians refuse to cross party lines and come up with solutions that would move us forward. They seem to be looking more toward the next election than doing the best thing for the people they were elected to serve. I have a suggestion people. Get with the program and work together. Support whoever was elected. It doesn’t matter if you voted for them or not, support them and encourage them to participate in finding non-partisan solutions to the pressing issues that we face. Just a thought.
