Observations of Greatness

Sometimes we can all be overwhelmed by the negative things we see and hear on TV and social media. All it takes to be encouraged is a look around our own community. A very sweet little boy named Dominick is very ill. I’ve watched the young adults around me come together in an amazing show of support. They have held prayer vigils, some are driving Dominick and his Mom to the city for his treatments. Many, many others are cooking meals, shopping and doing all sorts of small things to try to help. Some of these are “kids” I watched grow up who are now “thirty something” and they give me faith in the future. I am so proud of the compassionate, strong, loving people they have become. They care. That is a huge thing in a me first world. We hear politicians taking about making America great again. What I believe makes communities great, makes America great and makes the world great are people who care, people who’s hearts are filled with compassion for their fellow human beings. It’s a beautiful thing.
