To be, or not to be . . . . eating a plant based diet.

I read an interesting article this morning. After reading it I did some back up research and found a UCLA study from a few years ago that was very good as well.

My husband and I have been eating a mostly plant based diet since July. I was inspired by my niece Tricia and her husband. We are not strict vegans. We still have small amounts of cheese, eggs, and meat/fish. I would say more than 90% of our diet is plant based.

This was not new to me. I was vegetarian for a few years before Hubby & I got married. Even then I would still eat fish. My better half on the other hand was a devoted carnivore. A good steak or Beef Bourguignon were a must in his diet.  I eventually got tired of cooking two meals and went to the dark side.  Back then it wasn’t that I had an aversion to meat for any particular reason. I just don’t like it very much.

Now after eating mostly vegetable for all these months my favorite carnivore will opt for a veggie based almost all of the time. One of the reasons we have small amounts of some sort of animal protein every week is because after the first 3 weeks of doing strictly vegan I had eggs with cheese one morning and well, it didn’t sit well.  Wouldn’t want that to happen when you are out somewhere . . .

Back to the point. I found this article really worthwhile and wanted to share it.
