A day to remember.

I imagine that many of us feel the same way about September 11th that our parents and grandparents felt about December 7th.  Both dates will live in infamy in the hearts of us all. I keep thinking about the law of cause and effect and how the hideous actions of a few on September 11th, 2001 have affected, and are still affecting so many.  I think about all those who lost their lives that day and how that loss changed the history of their family and friends. I think about those who have died in the war on terror and how their loss has forever changed the lives of the people that love them. I think of the first responders and how many of them are plagued by disease. It goes on and on.  I guess what I take away from all of it is a sense that everything we do in life affects others. Every word, every action affects someone else and in turn they affect others. In honoring all those lost, I will strive to try to be loving and positive. Maybe cause and effect, on a small everyday level, can be a force for good. Maybe kindness can have a ripple affect and then as David says in Psalm 23 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” Just a thought.
